MedFlash II IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

MedFlashII is an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) system specifically designed for Beauty Clinics & Medi Spas. The unit allows the therapist to perform:

Hair Reduction
Skin Rejuvenation
Superficial Thread Vein Reduction
Active Acne Reduction

The unit features a large spot size (treatment area) of 50 X 25mm, allowing larger areas to be treated quickly. A series of clip on adapter windows are used to treat smaller areas such as the upper lip. As a double air cooled system no messy gel is required, the unit is also equipped with an optional skin cooling system. All the system options are software controlled via a colour touch screen, thus the system is easily upgraded. An optional client database feature to store, recall and track specific client treatments and settings is also available.

MedFlash works by emitting a short safe flash of light from the hand piece. Dependent upon the hand piece in use, the light energy is used in different ways to achieve the treatments listed below.

Hair Reduction: Here the light energy emitted from the MedFlash 590nm to 1200nm hand piece is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft. Via a process called 'Selective Photo-thermolysis', the hair follicle is heated, this heat damages the follicle such that its ability to support hair re-growth is compromised. This heat damage is limited to the follicle itself and not the surrounding tissue.

Skin Rejuvenation: Here the light energy emitted from the MedFlash 590nm to 1200nm hand piece is used to heat the dermal layer of the skin. This process has be shown to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen is an amino acid in the skin which is primarily responsible for the skins elasticity.

The light energy is also absorbed by hemoglobin found in the blood of any minor broken capillaries that are close to the skins surface. The hemoglobin heats up and is destroyed thus reducing minor redness. (For more specific thread veins a separate hand piece is available).

Finally, minor sun spots in the skin contain melanin, when a particular type of light hits the melanin it too heats up briefly and is destroyed.

Thread Veins:

Here the light energy emitted from the MedFlash 520nm to 1200nm vascular hand piece targets the hemoglobin found in the blood of superficial thread veins close to skins surface. The hemoglobin heats up, the heat then diffuses outwards either destroying the cells that make up the blood vessel wall or clotting the blood to stop the flow so that the individual vessels die. The dead cells are then removed by the body in the normal way.

Active Acne:

Here the light energy emitted from the MedFlash 390nm to 510nm acne hand piece targets the P.acne bacteria found in active acne pustules. The wavelength of the light energy emitted is absorbed by the pustule resulting in the production of oxygen within the pustule. The P.acne bacteria cannot survive in the presence of oxygen and thus the active pustules are reduced.

The system can be purchased with or without the integrated skin cooling system, although use of skin cooling system is highly recommended. (System without cooler badged as Flash 1 Plus)
